Join us for a look at the odd treasures of Antonia F. Futterer, biblical archaeologist, collector of Middle Eastern artifacts, and enthusiastic would-be tomb raider.
One of the stranger private collections in Los Angeles, it was founded in 1924 to house Futterer's collection of Middle Eastern biblical miscellanea. Today the Holyland Exhibition holds an impressive and eclectic assortment of biblical odds and ends, including a gigantic visual chart of the Old Testament drawn by Futterer himself.
Please join Obscura Society LA Field Agent Rachel James for a private visit and guided tour through five rooms filled to the brim with mummies, ancient artifacts from archaeology digs all over the holy lands, and a life-size goat hair tent! Our tour guides will be in costume, and will serve refreshments. Explorer costumes and discreet flasks of "holy water" are highly encouraged. (By Miss James, not the Exhibition.)
2-hour guided tour, starts promptly at 2:00pm. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early so that we can start on time.
