Where else but in Woodlawn Cemetery can you find a scale-model of Leonardo da Vinci's tomb, the grave of the immortalizer of the infamous white whale, and mausoleums bigger than your home?
This visit to the 19th century Bronx cemetery, where the dead keep their mansions in the form of around 1,300 private mausoleums, included these wonders and more as we explored this city of the dead, complete with winding roads and pricey neighborhoods where the windows are by Tiffany and the walls are cut marble. We even stepped inside five of these ornate sepulchers.
