Obscura Day 2016: Graceland Cemetery: Heroes, Villains, and Unsolved Mysteries Morning Tour

Join author Adam Selzer to explore both the celebrated and overlooked histories of Graceland Cemetery.

This Obscura Day, join us for a morning (or afternoon) stroll through the pastoral landscape of one of America's greatest cemeteries. There's history under every step at Graceland, and author/historian Adam Selzer has spent years delving into it, leafing through probate files and newspaper archives to learn the stories behind the stones. From the strange origins of the "Eternal Silence" statue to the unsolved death of the man buried the morning of the Great Chicago Fire, Adam and his quick wit will make already incredible stories all the more engaging. We guarantee that even the most seasoned Chicago history buff will leave knowing something they didn't before.

This event is hosted by Atlas Obscura Field Agent Adam Selzer. He is an author who does all kinds of neat stuff. Besides writing books on silent film in Chicago, ghost lore, antique serial killers, and unsolved mysteries (not to mention about a dozen young adult novels), he runs the Mysterious Chicago blog and tour company.  He’s been a tour guide for a decade, and talks about bizarre local history on TV and the radio regularly.
