In 1979 at the age of 66 Edouard Arsenault, inspired by a postcard sent to him by his daughter depicting a glass castle in Vancouver, began collecting and cleaning the glass bottles that would eventually comprise the three stunning structures that continue to draw visitors today.

The first and largest of these structures is known as the Six-Gabled House; it is composed of roughly 12,000 bottles cemented together and measures 20 x 14 feet. Following the house’s completion Arsenault went on to build the Tavern (8,000 bottles) and the Chapel (10,000 bottles), which includes pews and an altar.
