The Galata Bridge fishermen stay well into the evening. Their lines and lures often come down into reaching distance for any pedestrians who might be so inclined.
The modern incarnation of the Galata Bridge - which originally spanned the Golden Horn of Istanbul, Turkey, in the 1500s - was completed in 1994. It is a two-level bridge, notable not only for the historic importance of its location, but also for its use as a popular fishing pier and dining area.
