Completed in 1808, Gibraltar Point is the oldest landmark in Toronto and was essential to providing boats safe passage as the city grew. Although it was decommissioned in the early 1900s, it remains the oldest existing lighthouse on the Great Lakes and one of the oldest still standing in Canada.Â
