In 2008 the city police thought around Krymská Street was a dangerous area affected by crime and selling drugs, but a few years later, the street has become a cultural center. The greatest merit is attributed for Ondřej Kobza, who in 2010 opened the Café V lese (with motto „Svět je v háji, my jsme v lese.“ - “The world is fucked, we’re in the woods.”).

Krymská Street is considered the center of hipster in Prague and has been compared to Montmartre in Paris, Kreuzberg in Berelin, Camden and Bricklane in London or Neustadt in Dresden.

Among other companies in the Krymská Street include: Sběrné suroviny (music club, in English “Scrap Materials”), Strojovna (textile studio where visitors can sew on sewing machines) Plevel (vegetarian raw restaurant, in English “Weeds”), Družina (creative space), Baobab (gallery and bookstore for children) …
