The Hett Gallery and Museum

A collection of relics from the Spiritualist Camp Chesterfield

Established at the peak of the mysticism wave that came at the end of the 19th century, Camp Chesterfield is one of the oldest establishments of the Spiritualist movement in the United States. Since 1886, mediums and faith healers have gone there to channel the spirits of the deceased and transmit messages from the other world to visitors who “offer a donation” to the community.

With more than a hundred years of history, thousands of photographs, documents, and art work produced in trance states by the mediums, the Camp Chesterfield community decided to preserve their legacy by founding in 1954 the Hett Gallery, a museum retracing the glorious past of the Spiritualist movement in the United States and the rest of the world.

With flying trumpets, the “precipitated portraits” of the Bangs Sisters, and relics of the legendary Fox Sisters, the collection of the Hett Gallery is a one-of-a-kind, merging fine art with the most intriguing manifestations of the paranormal.
