Born in the Los Angeles, Ms. De La Torre was inspired by the wonder and opportunity that all of California has to offer. Curious as a child, her greatest inspiration was that of her creative mother, frequently visiting art museums and historic landmarks. Though her work is narrative, her paintings also echo children’s illustrations from a post-war era. Crystal’s work is nostalgic and evokes distant memories of childhood with a veil of fantasy.
