Sudwala Dinosaur Park

Jurassic Park in South Africa.

Nestled in the same complex as the Sudwala Caves lies this blast from the past.

The park features “life-size” dinosaur sculptures. All were sculpted by Jan van Zijl in the 1970s, and although some of the dinosaurs have hilarious faces and are a tad outdated, they still have an immense level of charm.

The park itself, although small, has quite a few points of interest. It consists of a sub-tropical forest garden, a newly built viewing deck, a trio of live Nile crocodiles, and a handful of roaming chickens.

Getting to the park itself is an adventure. One enters through the Sudwala lodge before making their way up a steep road that winds its way across the hill.

If you’re so inclined, you can grab yourself a variety of dinosaur paraphernalia at the entrance.
