Private Room: Have your own room, subject to availability, for a supplemental cost of $625. After booking your trip, please request a private room when you fill out your traveler information form and we’ll send a separate invoice for the cost.

Activity Level

This tour is fairly active; travelers should be comfortable walking 3 to 5 miles each day and remaining on their feet for long periods of time. Many parts of the tour involve cobblestone, dirt paths, and other uneven ground, as well as tight stone stairwells in castle and church towers.

Halloween Departure

In the Center of Romania we have Bran's Castle, a medieval castle believed to have once held  Vlad Tepes Dracula, commonly known as “Vlad the Impaler” as a prisoner. The infamous Romanian ruler was immortalized as the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, “Dracula,”.  Thanks to this loose link we find ourselves mesmerized by "Dracula's Castle" and Dracula's history. In this special departure, we extend our time at Bran's Castle and experience it during its most iconic time of year, Halloween. We explore the castle at night, learn about all its mysteries followed by a delicious "Vampire's" feast that takes us back in time. In Sighisoara, we learn about the Romanian ruler known as Dracula's humble beginnings by visiting the home where he was born, while exploring the eerie citadel by night. This special Halloween departure is sure to delight those who aren't afraid to explore darkness and mystery.

  • Medieval Snapshot in time; most interesting things are outside of Bucharest but also hardest to get to yourself.
