For 35 years, Archie McPhee has been on the cutting edge of weird popular culture. Through its products, Seattle store, and mail-order catalog, it has influenced the world, making it more joyous and infinitely less boring. From Handerpants to Finger Hands to the world-famous Horse Mask, Archie McPhee has silently been making your reality more surreal.
Join us after hours as we explore the history and absurdity of all that is Archie McPhee. We will meet Shana Danger, the High Priestess of Rubber Chickens, who will take us on a tour of the retail store and Rubber Chicken Museum, revealing the fascinating stories behind the objects and curiosities on display. We will be joined by Mark Pahlow, owner and founder of Archie McPhee, who will give a talk about some of the best (and worst) Archie McPhee products. Attendees will enjoy exclusive access to the store and a photo opportunity with the world's largest rubber chicken.
From the highs—someone getting a picture with President Obama while they were wearing a Horse Mask, to the lows—armed Secret Service agents showing up at Archie McPhee headquarters to talk to about shredded currency, who knew being weird was this much work?
Attendees will be treated to a gift bag of Archie McPhee surprises, a signed copy of the Archie McPhee book Who Would Buy This?, and a chance to “spin to win” on the famous prize wheel.
