They’re quick, they’re clever, they’re masters of disguise and every year public radio program Science Friday dedicates a week to celebrating them. Cephalopod Week, Science Friday’s annual celebration of some of the smartest, most interesting invertebrates on Earth, is back for its fourth year, and Atlas Obscura and Science Friday are teaming up to make it a total cephalo-party!
Join us for an evening of talk, tentacles, and merriment, featuring four original short films from Science Friday in the maritime scenery of The Queen Mary Tavern. You'll rub elbows with Science Friday staffers and learn from cephalopod experts Janet Voight of the Field Museum and Cliff Ragsdale & Caroline Albertin from the University of Chicago. This evening is your chance to ask them anything you want to know about these amazing, adaptive, and sometimes creepy creatures.
You'll join other Atlas Obscura Society members and Science Friday listeners for this very special screening, sip the special cephalopod-themed cocktails made especially for this evening, and engage in riveting conversation as you enjoy scenes of giant octopus attacks from vintage cult classic film.
