Celebrate Obscura Day at a local "Italian Courtyard" filled with delicious Georgian BBQ, live music by popular Georgian band The Natural Born Lovers, wine, and good company.
Tbilisi’s old Sololaki neighborhood is a district of 19th and early 20th century European bourgeois architecture—but with a twist. Behind the entrance of each building is an individual courtyard, a private world wrapped in communal wooden balconies and decorated with lines of drying laundry. Locals call the design an “Italian courtyard,” though in fact the building style is distinctively Tbilisian. Sololaki has suffered from neglect over the past century, yet it is slowly seeing a renaissance as new restaurants, bars, and cafés pop up, infusing the neighborhood with fresh attitudes and good vibes. The city's culinary innovations are also turning the humble district into a foodie’s paradise.
This event, created by Culinary Backstreets, and set in a Tbilisi “Italian Courtyard,” celebrates Giorgoba—St. George’s Day—at the neighborhood’s leading gastronomic cultural center, Ezo. The family-owned restaurant is no stranger to hosting outstanding parties in their courtyard, and this springtime celebration in honor of the patron saint of Georgia will be a montage of Georgian BBQ (mtsvadi), plentiful wine, and live blues with Georgia’s premier blues band, The Natural Born Lovers. Price includes a serving of pork mtsvadi, tsnili pickled assortment, bread and two glasses of wine.
