They’re quick, they’re clever, they’re masters of disguise and every year public radio program Science Friday dedicates a week to celebrating them. Cephalopod Week, Science Friday’s annual celebration of some of the smartest, most interesting invertebrates on Earth, is back, and Atlas Obscura, Science Friday, and The Bob Baker Marionette Theater are teaming up to make it a total cephalo-party!
Join us for an evening of talk, tentacles, and underwater puppets, featuring four original short films from Science Friday at The Bob Baker Marionette Theater. This evening is a chance to rub elbows with SciFri Senior Producer Christopher Intagliata, and get a chance to see two brand-new SciFri short films and two classics from the SciFri vault, all about these amazing, adaptive, and sometimes creepy creatures.
One of the longest-running puppet theaters in the country, The Bob Baker Marionette Theater has been delighting, charming, and amazing people of all ages with its nearly 3,000 handmade marionettes for five decades. To celebrate Cephalopod Week, they'll be performing an underwater sequence that has never before been showcased—part of Bob's "Arabian Nights" show that was sadly never finished.
