Walk the streets that Leon Trotsky trod upon and hear the stories of revolutionaries, ideologies, and social movements that are deeply embedded in New York City history.
Workers' rights, child labor laws, women's suffrage - these social benefits exist in large part to the powerful Socialist movements in the Lower East Side and the Village in the early 20th Century. On Valentine's Day/Presidents' Eve, join rogue historian Dan Veksler for a truly romantic and patriotic walking tour on which the history of the bitter struggles and modest triumphs of American Socialism will come to life, accompanied by colorful stories of unlikely connections and unsolved controversies.
