Obscura Society NY: "History of Burlesque" Lecture Cabaret

Take a fascinating and fabulous journey through time at this immersive lecture and multi-act burlesque show.

Join the New York Obscura Society for an evening of discovery as we delve into the history of burlesque, an enchanting form of performance that has shifted and changed with the times over a transformative century in America.

Loretta Jean, nerdlesque performer, researcher and producer, who is writing her thesis on the resurgence of burlesque, will guide our explorations and fill our imaginations with titillating tales from the past. Loretta's lecture will be chronologically illustrated by a dazzling array of in-the-flesh performances that demonstrate a range of burlesque styles from the past and present. Performers include many of the greatest currently operating in the New York scene: Albert Cadabra, Dirty Martini, Gin Minsky, Corvette Le Face, Ms. Tickle and Melody Jane.

Sip on artisan cocktails as you soak up the sequins, glitter and scintillating truths that are stranger than fiction at this informative, provocative, and truly unique journey through time.
