Delve deeper into the pool of Brooklyn's hidden creative gems and their intricate histories at this illustrated reading and book talk by Oriana Leckert, author of the book and website Brooklyn Spaces, a compendium of Brooklyn culture and creativity.
For the fourth lecture in the Obscura Talk series, we gather in the atmospheric underground of Unnameable Books to learn about the history of the spaces and organizations that comprise the creative network of the most populous and still rapidly growing borough. You'll see photos and discover the stories of some of the spaces in the book--a list that includes such enclaves of inventiveness as Batcave, Bushwick City Farm, City Reliquary, Cloud City, Coney Island Museum, Galapagos, House of Yes, Knockdown Center, Pioneer Works, powerHouse, Rubulad, Schoolhouse, Silent Barn, and Waterfront Museum, to name just a few. She'll also delve into the history of Unnameable Books itself, illuminating the story behind the Obscura Talks home for the series.
Oriana will be selling and signing books at the event.
Wednesday, December 2 at 8pm
