The Sketchbook Project is a crowd-sourced library that features 33,891 artists' books contributed by creative people from 135+ countries. Each creator of this worldwide multitude transforms a blank sketchbook with writings, drawings, paintings, mixed media collage, etc., then submits it to the project's library. The Brooklyn Art Library, located in a Williamsburg storefront, is the home of the project in physical form.
Join us for a private party at the storefront library where the walls are lined with shelves containing tens of thousands of these sketchbooks from around the world. Have a drink, mingle with fellow Obscura Society members, and mull over a sampling of the sketchbooks in person, plus learn how to personally request any specific sketchbook in the project.
Excited to get started on your own sketchbook? We are, too. That’s why the cost of your soirée ticket includes a sketchbook of your own that can be submitted to the library whenever you’ve finished it (a $28 value by itself!).
