On January 16th, the New York Obscura Society and Carte Blanche Performance
transform ACME Studio
into a Mexican-inspired Victorian salon, replete with artisan tequila cocktails and live music that fuses traditional Mexican and contemporary influences. This vibrant world will be the setting for a most unusual immersive performance that engages audience members in a historically-inspired hypnosis demonstration.
Begin the evening with a lecture by Daniel Ryan
of the Center for Integrative Hypnosis, on the history of hypnosis performance and its development as a a therapeutic method. Then, get lost in Carte Blanche's hypnosis-based performance which invites a willing audience member to open their unconscious world to the creative process of the performers. Three hypnosis sessions will provide a palate of content as a laboratory of multidisciplinary artists work simultaneously, devising images, sound and movement inspired by the subconscious creative visualizations of the participants.
This vivacious, informational and mysterious evening of partying and performance is not to be missed!
