Obscura Day 2015: Exploring Chicago's Baha'i Temple

The Baha'i faith welcomes everyone to find peace in their beautiful temple and gardens.

The Baha'i Faith promotes the unity of all people. There is only one Baha'i Temple on each continent. Join us for a complete tour of the Baha'i Temple for North America, just north of Chicago. We will explore the Temple, its beautiful gardens, and the brand new welcome center.

Voted one of the "Seven Wonders of Illinois," Baha'is say: "The House of Worship a unique gift that belongs to all of humanity. It is for contemplation. It is for prayer. It is made to be a haven for all who need to find relief and shelter in the midst of a hectic world. It exists to serve the spiritual needs of everyone."

Our guided-tour will include a lecture, a tour of the temple and a visit to the new welcome center which opened at the beginning of May, 2015. After the tour, guests will be allowed to roam the grounds and experience this beautiful location at sunset (7:48 PM).

  • Parking is available in a few lots nearby
  • Photographs are allowed everywhere, except inside the temple itself
  • All are welcome
  • Donations will not be solicited, nor will they be accepted
  • Tickets are for Atlas Obscura logistical purposes only. The temple does not normally employ tickets.
