Obscura Day 2015: Hidden at the Boston Athenæum

Step behind the Boston Athenæum's red leather doors on Beacon Street.

Join us on Obscura Day for a special, rare behind-the-scenes look at one of the country's oldest libraries, the legendary Boston Athenæum.

This docent-led, hour-long tour will be exclusively for Atlas Obscura.

The Athenæum’s collection of fine art is one of the most significant to have been formed in the United States in the first half of the nineteenth century, and many paintings and sculptures from it are on view throughout the building.  Also on view are a number of highlights from the institution's collection of rare books, including George Washington's personal library and the King's Chapel collection.
