Join us at the home of Anne and Paul Gulley of Elkin, North Carolina, who have transformed their library into a wunderkammer, complete with an alligator hanging from the ceiling...
After reading Lawrence Weschler’s Mr. Wilson’s Cabinet of Wonder and realizing that, yes indeed, everyone has their own “Cabinet," Anne and Paul Gulley gathered various curious specimens of their own and turned a room of their house into a wunderkammer, complete with an alligator on the ceiling (and including a stuffed hamster). The room has become a repository for stones, bones, taxidermy, and the stories that are an integral part of the collection. It is a celebration of the extraordinary ordinary.
Included in this Obscura Day event is hospitality (meaning refreshments) and a large front porch. Elkin is located in the heart of the Yadkin Valley wine region and is also a twenty five minute drive from Stone Mountain State Park which is a curious natural wonder in and of itself.
Saturday, May 30; Attendees are welcome to drop in between 1:00 & 4:00pm.
This is event is free, but please remember to RSVP!
