Obscura Day 2015: Portland's 109th Annual Staring Contest

To celebrate Obscura Day, Portland's Freakybuttrue Peculiarium will be hosting the most obscure contest on earth.

Everyone knows that Portland has a rich sordid history with staring contests that used to be all the rage at the turn of the previous century. But what started out as a fun, all ages contest, turned into a bitter rivalry between NE and SE Portland. Illegal staring contests sprouted up around the city, and the illicit contests would often battle past painful eye strain, to even a few matches that ended in death.

The Peculiarium is going to revive this great Portland tradition, except without the dying. Come try your luck and see if you have what it takes not to blink. Mono e mono, open to all ages. We'll have heats, eliminations, rematches and refs to find out who can go the longest without blinking, and the winner will be crowned with cheap prizes and a trophy!

$2 entry fee per eye. The judge's decisions are final.

Enter early to reserve a spot, and no using the stare-master or taking stare-oids!
