Obscura Day 2015: Abandoned Zoo & Fire Survivors of the Merry-Go-Round - Griffith Park Part Two

Join us as we explore the fun and fabulous Eastside of Griffith Park!

Join KCET and Curbed's Hadley Meares and Idea Monkey Inc.'s Mark Hayward as we tour the action packed Eastside of Griffith Park.

We will tell the story of Los Angeles through Griffith Park landmarks like the Griffith J. Griffith Statue, Mulholland Fountain, the carousel, and the old zoo. We will tell the long forgotten history of the LA River, demonstrate siphoning in relation to the Owens Valley aqueduct and view numerous flora and fauna unique to the parks Eastside. At the old zoo there will be monkey cages to climb in, hidden staircases to sneak through and graffiti by some of LA's cleverest young artists. And who knows- there might be a surprise historical guest or two!

Earlier in the day we will host Griffith Park Part One - an anthropological introductory tour of Griffith Park. Click here to purchase tickets to Griffith Park Part One.
