Join us for an expedition into the hidden places beneath the University of Washington Allen Library.
The tight-lipped librarians who dwell there refuse to reveal what awaits visitors to their special collections except for cryptic references to “the closed stacks” and “the Cage”. While the special collections are known to include old and obscure manuscripts, maps, rare tomes, and forgotten lore about Pacific Northwest history, I’ve been led to believe that this tour will involve early printed works depicting monsters and other fantastical animals.
There is no way to know what lies beneath except to travel there yourself. Be prompt--once the tour departs the way will be sealed.
LIMITED CAPACITY; RSVP REQUIRED.
Our tour will begin at the entrance to Allen Library South.
Please enter the building at the Research Commons (look for bright yellow walls!) entrance and we'll meet in the lobby under the crocodile fossil.
The tours start promptly at 1:15 and 3:15. Once the tour leaves the start location there's no way to catch up.
