Obscura Day 2016: Kubota Gardens

A rare fusion of American and Japanese garden design, Kubota Gardens delights the senses.

Kubota Gardens is known as a beautiful refuge, but it is clear that there is more to it than meets the eye. What makes a Japanese garden different than an American garden? How do you reconcile the two? How does the garden evolve and expand? What design philosophies animate the space? All this and more will be explained as we stroll through the garden, guided by one of Kubota Gardens’ dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers.

Notes for this adventure:

- This is an outdoor walking tour. Wear comfortable shoes--10 acres is a lot of garden!

- A portion of the ticket sales will go to Kubota Gardens to help keep it maintained and growing.

- Photography is encouraged! Tag @atlasobscura & #obscuraday
