Join us for an excursion that follows Mario Garcia Torres' exhibit Let's Walk Together to a variety of venues across Mexico City, creating a museum without walls.
Mario Garcia Torres' work often seeks to locate and question new art forms, a quest that has led him to travel constantly. The museum, either built or imagined, is a place that both researches and sets out to create art. Mario has studied various communication mediums, examining instances and intersections of artistic complicity. His work is an investigation of Time--both as it exists within a set location, and as a location itself where certain works of art can live.
The exhibition Mario Garcia Torres - Let's Walk Together, organized by the Museo Tamayo, presents more than thirty works created by the artist over the last fifteen years. Travel itself is a part of the experience of the exhibition, which takes place in a variety of Mexico City locations within a perimeter of 1,814 acres--the total area of the Sacramento Art Museum, a conceptual museum created by García Torres between 2002 and 2004. Our guided excursion begins in the Museo Tamayo, moving through downtown Mexico City to Casa Vecina and ending in the Geology Museum in Santa Maria de la Ribera, one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods.
