Obscura Day 2016: Tree Climbing With a Canopy Expert

Ascend high into the branches of Pinkerton Park under the guidance of an expert from Tree Climbing Planet.

Ever dreamed of reliving your childhood days of scrambling up trees? Join us on Obscura Day to celebrate Arbor Day by ascending high into the trees like a canopy researcher!

No experience is necessary for this open tree climbing event—you'll just need energy and an enthusiasm for heights. Tim Kovar, a tree climbing expert from Tree Climbing Planet, will guide you through the ropes and help you safely climb high into the branches of Pinkerton Park's majestic trees. (Don't worry—you'll be harnessed in.) Kovar, who began at Tree Climbers International, has 20 years of experience and has worked with canopy researchers all around the world, including ornithologists in Indonesia and primatologists in Uganda.

Learning the techniques of technical tree climbing will be hands-on and in-depth. And while you scamper up, down, and around, you'll have the chance to meet other Obscura Day explorers and aspiring human squirrels.
