Join us for a special tour and demonstration at the International Museum of Surgical Science

Located in a palatial mansion overlooking Lake Michigan, the International Museum of Surgical Science's intriguing collection seems well located within the home of people who would have used many of the devices on display. A replica of Le Petit Trianon at Versaille, the Countiss Mansion was acquired by surgeon Dr. Max Thorek and gently converted to display thousands of square feet of medical history.

The museum is a shrine to medical ingenuity and the people who dedicate their lives to making people live longer, healthier lives. For this event, we'll be having a special tour of the facility, featuring visits to a 19th century pharmacy, an iron lung, a fluoroscope, and countless devices and systems designed to heal and explore. While some of the items on display are not for the queasy, all of them are fascinating.

We'll experience a live demonstration in the Hall of Immortals of an amputation using 19th century equipment. Any volunteers?

Our tour will pay special attention to the home itself, and the people who made the museum a reality.

ADVANCE TICKETS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
