Obscura Society LA: Angels Gate Lighthouse and the Ruins of Cabrillo Beach

This 73-foot, Romanesque tower has guarded the port since 1913

Join the Obscura Society LA and Field Agent Robert Hemedes for a boat ride and a rare and private tour of Angels Gate Lighthouse.

Having recently completed a 1.8 million dollar exterior renovation in 2012, the Angels Gate Lighthouse is a historic-cultural monument that is not to be missed. A majority of the funds raised by this tour will go towards helping restore the interior of the Lighthouse.

The Angels Gate Lighthouse tour is expected to last one hour. Afterward, Robert will lead a hike along Cabrillo Beach to examine the remains of a military bunker which the U.S. Army Coast Artillery planned to use in its defense during World War II. The bunkers were meant to the assist in the detonation of floating mines that never ended up happening.
