Obscura Society LA: National Museum of Animals & Society Archive Tour and Happy Hour

Animal homelessness, deconstructing the domesticated chicken and circus politics are just some of the exhibitions found at this curious and inspiring establishment

Bring an open mind (and your family pet!) to a unique educational soiree celebrating the bond between animal and human.

Join the Obscura Society LA and field agent Rebecca Leib for drinks, live music and a curated peek into The National Museum of Animals & Society's fascinating archives. For years, The National Museum of Animals & Society has dedicated countless hours to the historical preservation and exploration of the animal/human experience. As the last hurrah before the museum moves to a bigger facility, Atlas Obscura and NMAS have partnered to bring you an exclusive peek at the museum's collection.

The event will begin with an introduction to the museum and archival talk by curator Carolyn Merino Mullin.  Afterwards, guests will be sworn into the Band of Mercy, an anti-animal cruelty alliance. The evening will conclude with live music and time to peruse the museum, while attendees sip themed craft cocktails by resident NMAS mixologist Tanya, of Brit-Tanya Bartending!

Carolyn Merino Mullin is the Founder and Executive Director of the National Museum of Animals and Society. She has over 14 years' worth of experience in the nonprofit sector, with special emphasis in children’s education and animal protection. On the museum front, she has been involved in all aspects of museology with The Miami Science Museum, The Chico Museum, Casa Dolores (Center for the Study of the Popular Arts of Mexico), and the Miami Children's Museum.
