Obscura Society NY: Behind the Curtain at the Illustrious Players Club

A glimpse inside one of America's oldest and most dramatic members-only club houses

Join us for a tour of the exclusive Players Club, complete with access to the historically preserved 19th century apartment of renowned tragedian Edwin Booth.

Founded by Booth in 1888 as a private club for members of the theatrical profession to meet and socialize with "the kindred professions of literature, painting, architecture, sculpture and music, law and medicine, and the patrons of the arts...", the Players Club has been an exclusive gathering place for an impressive cast of characters ever since its inception.  Aside from a vast collection of theatrical props, costumes and dramatic literature, the Players Cub has a hidden historic treasure: Booth's former apartment, practically untouched since his death and kept under lock and key in homage to the late actor.

Non-member access to this exclusive club is a rare treat, join us for this very special opportunity to gain a behind-the-scenes glimpse of New York City's great theatrical history.
