Obscura Society SF: Martini’s Tour of Sutro’s City **DATE CHANGE!**

Join us for a historian-led walking tour of silver baron Adolph Sutro's legacy at the city's edge

The San Francisco Obscura Society is excited to announce a very special walking tour led by renowned local historian and author John Martini.

In the second half of the 19th century, German immigrant Adolph Sutro used his fortune gained in the silver mines of Nevada to transform the city's western edge. We'll explore what remains from the Cliff House's most famous gingerbread incarnation to his private residence on the heights and his gift to the city: the spectacular, glass topped saltwater baths, now laying in ruins.

Lace up your hiking shoes and pack a lunch as we prepare to explore and learn the history of The Cliff House, Sutro Baths, the shipwrecks at Golden Gate Overlook, USS San Francisco Memorial, Sutro Heights Park and finish with a picnic on the parapet. (BYOL)

We will meet at The Cliff House at 10:00AM, and have lunch around noon. Please be prepared for inclimate weather and some exercise.

Our guide will be retired National Parks Ranger, historian, historical preservationist, author and lecturer John A. Martini. Mr. Martini is a 4th generation San Franciscan and has worked across the American West but his professional focus is primarily on this incredible city we call home. We are so fortunate to have him lead us on this tour. For more information about our esteemed guide, please go to  www.johnamartini.com

We look forward to seeing you there!
