Obscure Sojourns: China's Craft Beer Industry

Join Atlas Obscura Society Denver to discuss China's growing craft beer industry and taste some unique samples.

Join Atlas Obscura Society Denver at this free event to discuss China's growing craft beer culture. Guest speaker Sean Guerrero, owner/brewer of Jade Mountain Brewing Company, will talk about the vast diversity of exotic fruits, spices, and teas available in China which provide an incredible opportunity to craft diverse beers. Some examples from Jade Mountain include Jasmine Lager, a rice lager brewed with a blend of lager and sake yeast, with a large addition of Jasmine flowers; and Gui Hua Witbier, a unique take on a Belgian wheat that includes Mandarin orange peel and sweet osmanthus flowers.

We'll be serving free samples of Jasmine Lager and Gui Hua Witbier. In addition, you'll have a chance to try some traditional Chinese alcohol, baijiu.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Sean Guerrero opened the first iteration of Jade Mountain Brewing in a small town in China, inside an old 200-square-foot tea house. This Spring, he'll open a full commercial brewery and tap room in Denver.
