In advance of the release of singer/songwriter Kevin Morby's new musing on faith and self, we invite you to enter a sanctuary of the arts for an intimate preview event.
Critically acclaimed singer Kevin Morby played with New York City bands Woods and The Babies before releasing his own series of albums, as well as appearing on the soundtrack for Wild Wild Country. For his newest release, Oh My God (out on April 26th), he took inspiration by meditating inside his own "form of church"—on planes and in beds— to write and record a cohesive record. Morby then collaborated with director Christopher Good to produce a surrealist, evocative, and delightful complimentary film for his 14 song album which will be making its New York City screen debut at this special preview event. The screening will be accompanied by a live performance of several songs from "Oh My God" before the album is released to the public.
Our screening will take place inside Pushkin Hall, the historic ballroom-style theater of West-Park Presbyterian Church. The church, built in the 1800s and landmarked in 2010, works today to build a more inclusive community through support of the arts. Pushkin Hall, formerly McAlpin Hall, is delightfully cluttered with a wide range of art and theatrical ephemera, from vintage stained glass windows to paper sculptures made by animator Leon Joosen.
There will be a complimentary beer and wine reception prior to the screening.
- Event is 18+.
- For those 21+, your ticket includes one complimentary beverage. Please bring I.D.
