Completed in 1916 The Arctic Building is one of Seattle’s most unique, beautiful, and iconic buildings. The walrus-crested façade is rich with ornate details and the interior filled with grand treasures from the early days of the city.
Home of the Arctic Club from 1916–1971, the Polar Bar is where Alaska steamship captains, titans of industry, and prominent Seattleites convened to conduct business, plan charity events, tipple on the hard stuff, and divert themselves with a variety of card games. Tragically, in the modern era of Candy Crush and televised poker, many of these games of yesteryear are endangered.
Join Brenden Monroe on a tour of this landmark’s architectural and historic importance before retiring to the atmospheric Polar Bar. There we’ll learn a card game that was popular in the bygone era of the building’s founding and you’ll have an opportunity to challenge an opponent over a drink.
