Phantasma Gloria - Atlas Obscura

Los Angeles, California

Phantasma Gloria

Discover a glorious glasswork homage to the Virgin of Guadalupe, hidden in Echo Park.

Phantasma Gloria is a sun-catching sculpture that creates a rainbow as the light refracts through "lenses" of colored bottles.

Join Field Agent Robert Hemedes in conversation with creator and artist Randlett "Randy" Lawrence, who will host us at his home. Together, we will learn the history, science, and meaning behind Phantasma Gloria.

In a visit arranged exclusively for the Atlas Obscura Society Los Angeles, we'll arrive at the optimum time to catch the perfect light and experience the bottles refracting the sunshine, creating a beautiful glow of color, light, and a topsy-turvy view of the world contained in each bottle.
