Though originally developed as a way for Brazilian slaves to learn to fight while masking their movements, capoeira is more than a martial art. Grilo is one of the first Denver practitioners, and he is deeply rooted in the music, the culture, and the history of capoeira.
Following his passion eventually led to becoming a professor of capoeira and certified personal trainer with an emphasis on corrective exercise.
Join Grilo for stories of broken bones, Brazil, love, loss, magic, and rhythm from a capoeira life.
