Supernatural Cats and the Meowtropolitan

Enjoy tales of supernatural cats with Japanese folklorist Zack Davisson at Seattle's first cat cafe.

Join Shin Yu Pai, Head of the Catlas Obscura Society Seattle, in a special evening with writer Zack Davisson, author of Kaibyo: The Supernatural Cats of Japan. Hear tales of the Bakeneko, a shape-shifting cat; Kasha, the corpse-eating demon; and the Iriomote Great Mountain Cat, which has a mythology akin to Bigfoot.

We'll gather together for a private hour at the Meowtropolitan, Seattle's first cat lounge. Grab a catpuccino and relax or play with 15 to 20 kitties from the Meowtropolitan's partner shelter, Regional Animal Services of King County, as you enjoy stories of magical cats in Japan.

Additional Details:

  • Ticket price includes a signed copy of Zack Davisson's Kaibyo: The Supernatural Cats of Japan (Chin Music Press, 2017) and entry fee to the cat room. A limited number of  tickets for purchase without the book are available for the 7:00 p.m. event.
  • Program starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.
  • Visitors must be 8 years of age or older.
