The Anacostia River of Hope

Cruise the water and learn about the rehabilitation of DC's second river.

Join us for a watery excursion of the once neglected and historic Anacostia River with Earth Conservation Corps' Nate Ogle.

Jump aboard with Atlas Obscura Society DC Field Agent Fiona Clem as we launch off the Diamond Teague Park dock to explore the Anacostia. We'll learn about changes in this ecosystem, what's being done and the future of Buzzard Point.

The tour will include the former Capitol Pumphouse, Diamond  Teague Park, an up-close look of the revitalized Capitol Riverfront neighborhood and perhaps even an osprey nest or two.

  • We will meet in the (old) Capital Pumphouse
  • There is street parking along Potomac Avenue SE and First Street SE
  • The closest metro is Navy Yard (Yellow/Green) about 4 blocks walk
  • Portions of the tour will be outdoors. Please dress appropriately.
