The Devil's Den

In the 1800s, Honolulu's Chinatown was known as the Devil's Den due to its obscene filth and vice.

In 1899, bubonic plague came to the islands. Those who survived the quarantine lived only to face the greatest fire in Hawaiian history. Join us as we explore Chinatown’s hidden history of bubonic plague, rats, fire, quarantine, leprosy, and human sacrifice.

  • This is an 80-minute walking tour; wear comfortable shoes.
  • Meet in front of O'Toole's Irish Pub: 902 Nuuanu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96817
