What We’ll Do

Celebrate love at the Homestead Museum, one of Southern California’s true hidden treasures. Hear letters written by Workman and Temple family members about passion, unrequited love, heartbreak, and more as you tour the homes in which some of these letters were written.

Located in the heart of a former Mexican rancho, the Homestead Museum's houses, cemetery, gardens, and stories will surprise you from start to finish. From a Victorian-era basement with a dirt floor to a Music Room in a beautifully appointed 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival mansion, you’ll explore history and love from unique points of view while experiencing this very special site. Museum staff have hand selected letters and notes that correspond to the different buildings on site. Travel back in time and let your heart stir with expressions of love from the past. And before you leave, take the opportunity to write a special note to one you hold dear.

Where We’ll Be

Located in the bustling City of Industry, the Homestead Museum inspires visitors to become advocates for history as they explore what life was like in Southern California from the days of the Mexican ranchos to the Roaring Twenties.

About Your Host
Carlyle
Carlyle

Hi. I’m Carlyle, and I’m in charge of all Atlas Obscura’s experiences in Los Angeles.

I am a life-long traveler with a background in theatre and performance, and have been producing experiences with Atlas Obscura in Los Angeles for 2 years. I have an endless curiosity and drive to learn and explore the world around me.

Part of my life long mission is stepping into unknown places and learning about the world and all that it has to offer. I love a good story, passageways leading nowhere and most of all the chance to understand something new. I work hard to help create amazing experiences that hopefully inspire others.
