In an exciting new partnership, Christie's and Atlas Obscura will be working with prominent art specialists to highlight unique pieces for auction and the stories behind them. From exploring ancient astrology books to decoding the symbolism found in paintings, we'll have an opportunity to learn from the best in the business.
On June 10, Christie’s Specialist of Old Master Paintings John Hawley will discuss the surprising re-discoveries of lost paintings around the world. Some paintings are documented in books, but their whereabouts are unknown and unseen by scholars for years. The process of re-discovery involves extensive research and a highly trained eye, and there couldn't be a better person to learn from than John Hawley.
