People love cocktails. But did you ever stop to consider how incredible it is that these drinks, made of so many disparate ingredients from so many cultural origins, ever came together in the first place? Well, welcome to Cocktails Unmade, a one-hour online cocktail experience, where we’ll really dig into how the world’s most interesting mixed drinks came together and how you can take a sip yourself.
During this experience, join cocktail expert, Tory Pratt, owner and creator of Pratt Standard Cocktail Company as she guides you through the historical and cultural journey that led to the creation of the iconic Sazerac cocktail. We’ll explore the unlikely development of the official cocktail of New Orleans, and teach you how to make it yourself as well as some other cocktails using the same ingredients!
Presented by Atlas Obscura and Uncommon Goods, don’t miss this exciting deconstruction of a drink with an incredible cultural heritage!
This experience is part of our partnership with Uncommon Goods, the place to discover unexpected gifts and experiences for everyone in your life (including yourself). Tory Pratt, Founder of Pratt Standard Cocktail Company, grew up around the food industry- her parents were caterers and ran a smoked seafood business that sold to Philadelphia area chefs and premium grocers. Pratt Standard makes craft cocktail ingredients to help home cocktail enthusiasts make drinks as great as their favorite bar, and sells them in 200 stores across the US. Since starting her business in 2014, she has taught over 15,000 home bartenders how to make cocktails, and designed 18 bar programs from DC to Ohio. Her favorite cocktail is a tossup between a Penicillin and a Classic Daiquiri. She lives in Washington, DC, with her husband Neil and their corgi Apollo.
