Marketing Coordinator, Experiences

Atlas Obscura is seeking an energetic and creative Marketing Coordinator to join our growing Experiences team. Rooted in our mission to inspire curiosity about our incredible world, Atlas Obscura Experiences bring the world’s hidden wonders to life through live online events, courses, and multi-day trips. In just the past year, we’ve delighted tens of thousands of AO community members with our new online experiences, launched a rapidly growing online courses business, and put ourselves back on track to becoming one of the world’s leading travel companies. As we scale, we need a Marketing Coordinator to help accelerate sales of our experiential offerings. Reporting to the Director of Growth Marketing, the person in this role will coordinate with key stakeholders to schedule daily and weekly omnichannel promotions for our trips, courses, and experiences ; build and deploy our email newsletters; assist with campaign strategies, coordinate with our Audience team on organic social promotion; produce copy and creative assets for paid search and social marketing, on-site ads, and other channels; and track KPIs. 

  • Week-to-week planning and day-to-day execution of our ongoing trip, course, and experience promotion
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to increase brand exposure and growth of our experiential product offerings
  • Assist with the development and strategy of new marketing channels
  • Build and deploy email newsletters, including coordination with stakeholders on featured content, review, and email testing
  • Coordinate organic social promotion of trips, courses, and experiences in collaboration with our Audience team
  • Develop engaging written and visual content for a variety of channels including email, paid search,social, and on-site ads
  • Research audience preferences and personas, and follow/promote current relevant trends and best practices
  • Track and report KPIs
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years experience in a marketing role, ideally at an agency or in the travel and experiences space
  • Experience producing marketing emails and familiarity working in ESPs (bonus points if you have strong feelings one way or another about Mailchimp) 
  • Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience sourcing creative assets
  • Excellent organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and serve as a point of contact with multiple stakeholders 
  • Clear and consistent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial startup environment
