About

In July of 1967, Ted Johnson and George Ballis began the Alhambra Dinner Theatre with the goal of providing Broadway-style entertainment and a delicious meal to the residents of Jacksonville, Florida.

The Alhambra spent its first decade-and-a-half hiring movie and television stars looking to revitalize their careers, beginning with Dawn Wells from Gilligan's Island. As the marketplace changed the theater transitioned from using big names to focusing on the plays themselves, while always maintaining a professional cast. In 1982, reclusive writer J.D. Salinger attended a performance at the Alhambra. The Alhambra is the only professional resident theatre in Northeast Florida.

Past shows include Escape To Margaritaville, Boeing Boeing, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Gypsy, The Wedding Singer, South Pacific, and A Christmas Story, The Musical.
