The somewhat spooky at twilight statue shows a sitting medieval scribe, camouflaged with a cape. Captured for eternity as a bronze statue, the identity of the eerie figure with the hood pulled into the face remains unclear. Under the monogram “[Master] P” he published the history of the Hungarians (Gesta Hungarorum) in the 13th century, as the chronicler of King Béla.

This tribute statue is considered one of the most important works of the Hungarian sculptor and artist Miklós Ligeti (1871-1944). The stone carved inscription on the pedestal is dedicated to Anonymous, the chronicler of the highly illustrious King Béla.

The figure can be found near the famous Vajdahunyad Castle, directly in the City Park of Budapest.
