About

The island of Capri in Italy is known for its beauty, including unique rock formations like the famous Faraglioni and the Grotta Azzurra. Along the eastern coast of the island, there is another, less famous natural formation known as the Arco Naturale.

Arco Naturale is a natural limestone arch that forms a bridge between two pillars of rock. It is located on the top of a cliff and it spans 18 meters (59 feet) in height and 12 meters (39 feet) in width. It was born from the erosion of a grotto during the Paleolithic, and is the only remaining piece of a long-gone cavern.

The arch can only be reached on foot. Two separate paths lead to the rock formation: one coming from the main square of the town of Capri, while the second, most scenic one, passes by the Faraglioni and goes along the southeastern coastline of the island.

From the location of Arco Naturale, a breathtaking view of all the spectacular sea scenery of the surrounding area can be enjoyed. Thanks to the height of its position above sea level, all the eastern coast of Capri, the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula and some other small islands can be seen.
