It is a well-known fact that visitors to Melbourne will certainly see their fair share of street art decorating the walls and pavements of almost every street of the city. Off the beaten track in the Melbourne suburb of Windsor lies a hidden lane tucked behind the busy Chapel Street.

It was first developed in 2012 where Fletcher Anderson, a local real estate company, joined together with artist Wayne Tindall to organize and facilitate the drawing and display of several unique and remarkable pieces of street art.

Wayne started the project by painting himself and his wife outside the studio in the laneway, before getting assistance from his many connections in the local art scene. The transformation of this urban space has been quite remarkable and has become a hidden gem for visitors.

Officially named Artist’s Lane, this street has been affectionately nicknamed “Aerosol Alley” by many of the artists who contributed their work. Due to the dynamic nature of graffiti and the local public art scene, the work is always changing and visitors may sometimes see local artists updating their work or producing a new masterpiece. Not only are the walls decorated with art, but often bins are also painted with unique designs.
